This course emphasizes individual physical fitness and wellness. The physical fitness component includes attention to muscle strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, goal setting and fitness planning The wellness component examines the role of nutrition, activity, rest and lifestyle patterns in personal wellness. The ideal student is motivated, able to set and meet short and long-term goals, and has the communication skills necessary to complete a comprehensive research paper on their personal fitness experience.

This course is designed for a motivated, self-starter student. It includes: independent text readings, daily work, unit quizzes,CPR certification and an in-depth study project.
